Research Security & International Science Collaboration | IVLP Visit | Europe & Eurasia
Global Ties Akron hosts a week-long delegation of science and research leaders from Europe and Eurasia for an IVLP exchange on research security, scientific integrity, and the future of international science collaboration.
About the Visit
From March 19–25, 2026, Global Ties Akron welcomes a delegation of science, research, and academic leaders from the Europe and Eurasia region for a week-long professional exchange in Akron, Ohio. Organized through the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in partnership with American Councils for International Education — one of the country’s premier exchange program agencies — this visit focuses on one of today’s most critical global conversations: protecting scientific research while advancing international collaboration.
Delegates will engage with university researchers, government science advisors, tech transfer professionals, and national laboratory representatives throughout their time in Northeast Ohio, exploring U.S. frameworks for open science, research security, and international partnership agreements.
Why This Topic Matters
Research security has become one of the defining challenges of the 21st century. This IVLP exchange gives delegates from Europe and Eurasia the opportunity to explore how the United States is meeting this challenge — and to share their own countries’ approaches in return.
About the IVLP
The International Visitor Leadership Program is administered by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). It is America’s flagship professional exchange program, connecting current and emerging international leaders with American counterparts across virtually every professional sector.
